# SLE Type Description

To say the SLE is merely an action oriented pragmatist wouldn’t quite capture them.&#x20;

They’re very often misunderstood. Often times not realizing that this misunderstanding comes from the sheer declarative or brusque demeanor they have when they state their position. Often shocking others, making them wonder if this person has some kind of personal issue with them, leading them to come off so intensely. The reality couldn’t be further from the truth. The SLE is predisposed to asserting their stance and their position. Most of their attention is occupied with the exertion of their will onto the world around them. An SLE notices first and foremost something or someone’s imposition on the world. The pressure it exerts on them and others. While some may be able to disregard somethings immediate impact on the environment or the world, the SLE struggles \*not\* to notice it. Often feeling the need to push back against those things that might infringe on their will and agency, or their environment or freedoms.&#x20;

SLE’s have a kind of desire to test somethings limits. Even when writing a description such as this, I expect they will (more than most), be looking for the weak spots in this description, and test whether something said **really** or **truly** characterizes them. This could also apply to an ideology or a theory. There is a desire to “try and break it”. Throwing all of their logical ammunition at a given thing to see if it can withstand their attention. This could even be physically. Exercising their will and brute force in martial arts. Or in an attempt to break an object. Varying obviously by someone’s individual interests. However, if the theory, object, or methodology holds up under pressure, they are likely to accept or adopt it. Tending towards adopting what works.

In most cases, an SLE is asserting their position or opinion so strongly that the other person assumes the SLE just has a strong dislike of them. Despite their brusque demeanor, they are actually not concerned with this.\
The SLE tends to take an interest in the laws or rules that govern the world around them. Whether that is the laws that govern others behavior, society at large, or of a mechanical system. The SLE tends to break things down to their parts, and seek to understand what makes it function. It’s for this reason that the SLE is such a great systems builder. They are likely to build systems in their life for any number of problems or challenges. Tending to develop a reliable code of conduct or system of habits, grounded in their understanding of the laws which govern the world around them.

The SLE also has a natural aptitude understanding what tool will be best for the job. They tend to have a natural aptitude in understanding the nuances and particulars of a situation, and adjusting their rules or approach to best match the circumstances. They can be quite proficient in recalling factual information. That factual information often being consolidated into the principles, understanding, or system they have built.

\
Despite this highly logical orientation. The SLE has a strong desire to emotionally move others towards a higher purpose. Knowing that things that really matter and have significance take many people, and in order to drive results, need to inspire others to act. There is a desire to sink into a larger purpose, that which they can lose their sense of self to. The SLE seeks to find that thing that they know is worthwhile and will far outlast their efforts. \
\
While having some ability to emotionally move others, it tends to be momentary. The SLE tends to have the ability to make others excited or impassioned for a brief time. Until that person processes that message more deeply and the SLE finds it doesn’t sink in or stir them the same it did in the moment. The SLE tends to slightly miss the mark on aligning the people towards that common cause and inciting them to act, especially long term.

They are highly receptive to the emotional atmosphere. They tend to seek out environments with a good emotional atmosphere, as they sometimes struggle to create their own. The SLE does not think of people in terms of whether they “like” or “dislike” a person, but instead on whether they feel good around someone or whether that atmosphere serves or aligns with them. They are likely to enjoy what different atmospheres or group energies have to offer them. If they feel they are losing the influence in a group, or that what they say deviates from what the group accepts or is okay with, they can struggle to keep emotional ground, then driving home their point harder in hopes of capturing or reaching the emotional alignment of the group. This can be achieved but they often struggle with this or push too hard, and it repels the group even more.\
\
This sort of ideological isolation or rejection is a struggle SLE’s tend to face often, due to being so oriented towards their understanding of the world or ideological position. Others may want to get to know someone on a personal level, whereas the SLE is more interested in testing their beliefs against others. The idea that iron sharpens iron, giving them the desire to test their mettle against others and not only hone their skill, but occasionally submit to a superior ideology.\
\
While not likely to give in to an alternate ideology easily, or without a fight, they can and will do so, sometimes publicly and sometimes privately. If they sense that the person wants to win, they are likely to give as little ground as possible in the moment. Afterwards the excellent points of the other party likely leading them to further curiosity on what has given them doubts. However if someone is not competing with their point, or is ambivalent to winning or is not keeping score, the SLE is more likely to submit to it in the moment.\
\
This touches on an important facet of an SLE, which is their tendency to see everything as a battle. Whether it be a battle of wits, of mettle, or of capability. You can catch them in a state of genuine open mindedness or exploration, so long as you do not express some judgement of them as an individual, or of their ethical integrity. Once this comes into question, you are likely to catch yourself tangled into a fight or vigorous debate, as they use their mental resources and tools to dismantle your argument to it’s pieces, and sell the parts for scraps. Even launching an advertising campaign on how cheap and mediocre the spare parts of your arguments are.\
\
This highlights their likelihood of doing whatever they do with style, maybe even finding obscene exaggerations of an argument or point such as to make it as clear and grotesque as possible. They are likely to not only dismantle your point, but also do it in a way that makes your point look exceedingly absurd, or in other words “destroy you with style.”\
In this way, they can sometimes even embrace other’s rejection of them, taking on the “image of the villain”. Needless to say, SLE’s expression can vary, and while they do have an ideological core that guides their actions, this is the biggest restriction of the dynamic range of their behavior. The SLE likely has an idealization of relationships based on their role in a system or a shared struggle. A relationship characterized by the rules that define their roles and systemic relationship to one another. This allows them a uniformity to their relationships to others that is a lot more comfortable for them. Such as the military, where roles are clearly and carefully defined, making the boundaries of the relationship something they can clearly understand and know the boundaries of.\
\
SLE’s are made and built for wartime. It’s very likely for an SLE to have a longing for a greater battle that gives meaning or purpose to their life. They are not the kind that wish for the essentials to be taken care of so that they can “chill.” Instead, they wish to give their all to something that leaves a lasting impact on the world and those within it. At their core, they are a fighter. One who fights either for an ideology, or for something bigger than themselves. While they can and are sure to fight for themselves, and their own autonomy, they are not likely to fight for selfish desires limited to their own preferences.\
\
The SLE can be keenly aware of the way they prefer to order their environment or other sensory preferences, however lack a personal preference when it comes to ideas or concepts, tending to stick to logical basis over personal preference.

The SLE can be very impulsive, trusting their ability to improvise and throw their will behind something and find a way to make something work. While they can be quite good at improvising, their short sightedness can often make things difficult for them, not realizing or considering the long ranging consequences of their actions. This is particularly in the realm of how people will react or take things. The IEI is well equipped to assist with foreseeing the likely outcomes of a message or approach with a particular individual, or with most people.\
\
The SLE has a tendency to push past the demands of their body. However, once their body needs rest or care, they will opt to recharging and giving its body the rest it needs. They know just how much rest their body needs, and are likely not to overindulge in rest, or get to the point of a forced wipe out or crash. \
As for the organization of their environment, they are likely to allow their environment to become slightly disorganized, addressing it before it gets out of hand, by restoring it back to order. The SLE is quite disciplined, and is likely to have formed habits keeping their things and their environment in a baseline condition. They are also quite consistent. They are not likely to shift back and forth in their upkeep. One week having an ordered environment, the next week not. Their environment will be held to a consistent standard, not deviating or shifting significantly from outside factors like stress.<br>

The SLE is a natural in bringing order to the environment. Although not particularly interested in upkeep for its own sake, they will likely have their environment maintained and well kept, at the very least to a functional or “working” degree. The SLE’s primary focus on their environment is about shaping it to their will, bringing order to the chaos of an environment and using structure to do so. They do this consistently, but not always uniform. The SLE tends to take on problems as they are thrown at them. Not to say that the SLE is not proactive. The SLE will proactively address problems within the scope of what they can foresee, however their routines are not ironclad. They are more likely to order and structure the environment based on the shifting demands or variance that occurs from day to day or week to week. Particularly compared to the LSI.\
\
When the SLE loses steam or feels like none of their efforts are going anywhere or having the impact they desired they can become greatly discouraged. Wondering what any of their efforts are for. This is where the IEI proves useful, reminding them the meaning behind their effort and encouraging them to continue on, or pointing them back towards the vision and the meaning and significance of what they’re doing. Showing them why it will later be worthwhile, maybe even impressing upon them appreciation for what they have done so far, considering the IEI will likely not be nearly as adept or effective as the SLE.\
\
Before reaching discouragement, they are likely to pause and stop when something isn’t working, and re-asses their options. They do this not only as a fallback to forcing something to work, but also feel the external pressure and demands of the world to show that they have considered alternatives. This will lead them to have multiple options at the ready, even though their gut already tells then they know which option is the right one, and unencumbered they would prefer to stop fiddling with alternatives and just do what they feel is the right thing they need to do in the moment.\
\
This will lead them to learn to effectively “sell” the option that they consider to be the best one. Occasionally presenting as open minded and looking as though they have considered alternatives, but campaigning or opting for action over further consideration. Overall the SLE stands out as the militant, forceful, and provocative personality with heavy logical principles and a desire for social influence. They are often misunderstood due to their impersonal nature and preference towards rules and logical coherency over being personal with others.&#x20;
