# The 16 Elements of Socionics (Model L)

Jul 12, 2025

In my [Intro to Socionics](https://drive.google.com/file/d/1a9HdTZg8eK8v9oQe1GZ9FMwoOcxeAZq1/view?usp=sharing) (Model L) presentation, I explain the four “Jungian Faculties” (“Sensing” S, “iNtuition” N, “Logic” T & “Feeling” F) and how they’re divided by the Introversion/Extraversion dichotomy into the 8 Information Metabolism elements (Si, Se, Ni, Ne, Te, Ti, Fe & Fi) that are commonly referred to in Jungian Typology. However, these aren’t the fundamental elements of the Socion; several dichotomies further subdivide the familiar 8 elements into a total 16, corresponding with each of the 16 Types. While different socionics schools often frame these subdivisions by more diagnostically obscure dichotomies, I’ve found that the “strength” dichotomies – Concrete (S.) vs Abstract (N.) & Objective (T.) vs Subjective (F.) – most intuitively highlight their differences. In this entry we’ll be going over the two monadic sub-elements which make up each of the 8 IMEs in Model L, and note the types they correspond with.
